Basic Crumble Crust

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1/4 cup butter, melted (180/8)

  • 1/4 cup unsweetened apple sauce (50/0)

  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar (0/0)

  • 1 1/2 cups flour (600/18)

  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda (0/0)

  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder (0/0)

  • 1/4 teaspoon salt (0/0)

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Preheat oven to 375º F.

  2. Line an 8" pan of your choice (pie, square, fish-shaped, etc.)

  3. In a medium to large mixing bowl, mix together melted butter, apple sauce and sugar. Add flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.

  4. Stir together with a fork until the mixture resembles crumbs.

  5. Press the crumb mixture into your prepared pan. Make sure to really press that crumb down. You want it to be able to hold what ever you plan to place on top.

  6. Bake in the oven for 12 to 15 minutes, or until the crumble crust is showing signs of browning.

  7. Remove from oven and let cool, completely, in pan before adding anything additional.
