Angel Food Cake
INGREDIENTS:
1 1/4 cup (150 grams) flour (500 calories / 12 points)
1/2 cup (96 grams) granulated sugar (0 calories / 0 points)
1/2 teaspoon salt (0 calories / 0 points)
1 1/2 cups (12 ounces) liquid egg whites (150 calories / 0 points)
1 teaspoon cream of tartar (0 calories / 0 points)
1 teaspoon (5 grams) vanilla extract (12 calories / 0 points)
1 teaspoon (5 grams) almond extract (12 calories / 0 points)
DIRECTIONS:
Beat egg whites until they form stiff peaks and then add cream of tartar, vanilla extract, and almond extract.
Sift together flour, sugar, and salt. Repeat five times.
Gently combine the egg whites with the dry ingredients. Pour into an ungreased 8” x 8” square pan.
Place cake pan in a cold oven. Turn oven on and set it to 325 degrees Fahrenheit. Cook for about one hour, or until the cake is golden brown.
Invert cake and allow it to cool in the pan. When thoroughly cooled, remove from pan.
